Winter Hedgerow

The day started bright and sunny but my late afternoon we walked in heavy drizzle and a grey sky. It’s also been windy, gusts to 40mph.

Merlin went out with Hannah this morning so I had a bit of extra time - his last walk with her this year. He returned with a goodie bag of treats which he was determined to sample. I spent a pleasant hour wrapping presents, then caught up with my sister by phone.

After various other jobs I walked to the allotment to check on the compost bins. I turned the contents and watered some of the compost which was looking dry. Generally the compost is looking good though.

By the time we’d had lunch the light was deteriorating. I made minestrone soup and we walked Merlin. We returned in near darkness. Not long now until the shortest day. Initially the mornings will continue to get a little darker but the evenings will gradually get lighter.
