Reed beds

Extensive Reed beds and open Lagoons are the prime features of the Leighton Moss Bird Reserve.
But it takes a lot of work to maintain these features in prime condition for the bird population.
Here you see a large digger clearing out the channels in the Reeds.

Some people make their Christmas cake in October. Ours is being made today. It has no alcohol in it as at least one person who will be eating it is sadly allergic to that magic liquid.
