Keeping watch

This Egyptian Goose is a very good dad as he keeps watch non stop over his eight babies. He's either standing on the roof top or on the garden wall. I peeped over the wall to see the geese and he very quickly flew down and walked towards me , keeping his family behind him.. They then all hopped into the pool for extra safety. This pair of Egyptian Geese bring up their young every year in a neighbour's garden. It is so interesting watching them when they start learning to fly. The extra is of some of them in the pool.....when they leave some serious work will have to be done to get the water clean!!
I met my recently widowed friend for tea today. The first Christmas alone is always a difficult one and I could feel her sadness. 
The weather has been overcast and windy all day - not very good for all the holiday makers who want sunny days at the beach.
