More Books!
When in need of a blip, take a photo of what's on the coffee table!
I have been neglectful lately of blipfoto...I seem to be preoccupied with book club, medical stuff and Christmas prep and now that I am free to drive, I have taken every opportunity to hop in my car and run out somewhere for any reason I can think of! At the end of the day, I realize that I have not taken a photo nor have I read anyone's journal!
My social life seems to have taken a turn for the better these days..it must be a Christmas thing...but I have had some wonderful experiences spending time in person or on the computer with friends from afar.
The highlight of yesterday was a lovely chat with Mrs. HCB via What's App..I don't know why I had not thought if it before but it suddenly dawned on me that she has What's App and so do I! So why are we not using it? What a treat to see and hear a fellow blipper in person! And to realize that although our correspondence has been solely online, that it was just like talking to an old friend! It was SO much fun! Of course, after that I totally forgot to take a photo of anything!
Today the main distraction was an unexpected visit from a former neighbour Nora..who called first and then dropped by bearing treats and we had a wonderful long visit and it just made my day to have some company.
Also, it is the time of year for Christmas newsletters and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading them from folks who are much more organized than I am! Usually a big part of my Christmas prep is making cards, sending them and then anxiously awaiting for some in my mailbox! Well, with our postal strike, that did not happen, but many enterprising folks sent their newsletters online...Which made me feel totally inadequate and has motivated me to at least do that and start writing! !
So I apologize for not visiting journals lately and will do my best to catch up ...again!
About the books......These are two of the books we have chosen for our book club in the new year .I am currently reading What She Said, by Elizabeth Renzetti, a journalist who for over two decades wrote a newspaper column on women's rights. The book is her response to the prevailing assumption that we have reached a state of gender equality, which over her years of writing on the subject, she knows is not true. It is a series of "conversations" on related topics in which she refers to her own experiences. We thought it would be a good book for discussion..as we are of an age that remembers the "before" of women's rights and are quite attuned to the "now". We figure we would have lots of experiences to share.
The other book, a novel, I will leave for another day - but I am ever so anxious to start it! Think "Who really wrote Shakespeare?" ...heh heh.
