Red red robin
‘ When the Red, Red Robin comes Bob,Bob Bobbin’ Along’.
I wonder if the younger generation know this song.
I often think of it when I see one.
This little fella just had to be my Blip for today, especially as he posed right in front of me on top of a post.
He was actually watching a young lady, feeding her baby, as she sat on a seat overlooking the lake.
She hadn’t noticed him, and was so delighted when I told her. It made her day.
As we hadn’t anything on today we decided to make the most of the good weather, and so after our usual early visit to the fish van, we drove over to Newmillerdam, near Wakefield.
Just got the last place in the car park as everyone else seemed to have the same idea.
£2 for four hours was excellent value.
We wrapped up well, as although glorious sunshine, it was only 4C and an icy wind.
We had a really enjoyable walk round the lake and woods.
Felt so good to be out in the fresh air on such a lovely day.
Lots of action on the lake. Cormorants diving for fish, and preening themselves sat on the dead branches.
Several grebes also diving for fish, and lots of mallards, moorhens, Canada geese, and coots all looking for tit bits. Obviously well fed by the public.
The extra collage shows the boat house, built in the 1800s by the then owners of the estate.
Now a cafe.
Wakefield Council bought the Estate in 1954 and opened 237 acres as a country park.
We hadn’t realised it was so near home. Only took 25 mins. to get there. Via M62 and M1.
Will be back in the Spring to see the bluebells.
Advent Calendar No. 19. Cheese Cheddar ( again!)
Joke.
Why was the turkey in the pop group?
Because he was the only one with drumsticks!
( oh I know you have probably heard it before. Can anyone come up with a better one?!)
