Merlin - 138

There were some good sightings at Burton today with the best one being a Merlin which landed in front of the visitors centre. There were blades of grass in front which made it hard to focus but it is the first one I have ever photographed and the first one I have seen this year. 

My first viewing of the merlin came when it flushed the black tailed godwits. I initially thought I had captured it in the first extra but having read Diane2104’s comment I think she is right and although the Merlin definitely spooked the godwits it is a marsh harrier in the background. The second extra is a redpoll (bird 139).
