Sock op
Only a kilometre into today's walk Jeaniebean and I had to stop in the shelter of the veranda of the rugby rooms so that I could rescue my socks which were disappearing down my feet and off the ends...
Winter socks seem to stay on my gumbooted feet unaided, but summer cotton ones have to be pulled up over the bottoms of my trousers to keep them on. I failed this test before leaving home...
I dislike walking in gumboots, but on days like these it is a necessity. The grass through which we walk on S&N's property is knee-high in places, and thoroughly soaking.
Despite the drizzle, interspersed with lashing showers, we both enjoyed the exercise and fresh air. Bean especially enjoyed the brief sojourn under cover while I dealt with the sock issue (extra) and then the brisk towel-down when we got home again.
The rain is mostly falling as mizzle. For once I'm content about it: picturing the food-plants soaking up its goodness through their leaves and roots. Rainwater always results in better crops than tank water for some reason.
Fortunately there is now a forecast for less rain and more sunshine tomorrow, so the novelty of wet weather won't wear off quite yet.
For this afternoon - and despite a list of indoor tasks - my overwhelming urge is to snooze. The sofa is calling...
