My topsy-turvy life

I HATE THAT SNOWMAN!!!

It was a bit of a novelty to have an afternoon appointment for a trip to Manchester for Owen's 20th dilatation(?!) and nice to not have to be out of the house at 5:30.

We were a WIWO (Walk In Walk Out) appointment today and everyone seems to remember him and his surgical gowns. He's so much more aware of what's going on now that it's become a bit of a trial to get him to have the numbing cream on his hand and he still had the mask when he went down to theatre. One of the things we do while we're waiting is take some new lego and the theatre staff had some Christmas-y activities like the Father Christmas decoration he's colouring here.

The surgery itself was smooth enough and the inflammation seen last time is less than it was but still there so the next step is a gastro referral, hopefully nearer to home. The real trial has become when he comes round in recovery. He seems to wake up very angry and upset and, although we know he'll be better after some food, he won't accept it. At one point he was sat in the BED, looking up at the window and screamed, "I HATE THAT SNOWMAN*!". I had to turn away at that point because I couldn't help laughing...poor snowman. He did start to calm down enough to eat some mini Oreos and, once he'd got some food into himself, started to feel much better. We eventually got to leave at about half past 4 and, with the usual stop for McDonald's on the way, we were home around half past 7. All in all earlier than I expected.
