Old Friends
A day I’ve been looking forward to for a week or two.
I had three hours at the rugby club, lots of ‘little fixes’ all should make the place either look better or help out on rugby days, the storm damage needs a little more than one pair of hands though.
Today was also the day that former volunteers of the Thursday Gang had their Christmas Lunch. Now known as the Thursday Friendship Group sadly they met at the Athenaeum at the same time as I met friend David down town, an appointment I couldn’t, nor wouldn’t, break.
David, my friend an an Epic, (Gig Club), original has not been well, two years since I saw David last we were to meet for brunch. The brunch option finished just before we go there so we opted for cheese & ham toasties with a couple of flat whites each and three and a half hours of chat and catch up. The time simply few by as we discussed everything from the Falkland Islands to rowing, from modern life to our respective old days. One of the best days I have had in a long time, hugely enjoyable, so much so that our next one is booked in already.
Friendships - one of life’s greatest pleasures.
I took the photo of the ivy covered pillar, not a particularly good photo but it was meant to illustrate that you should cling to your friends as the ivy clings to the pillar.
