Outside Lopdell House

Being the driver whenever we passed by, I had not consciously noticed the arrival of a sculpture on the corner of Titirangi Road and South Titirangi Road (outside Lopdell House) until S pointed it out to me. At about the same time, the statue of Henry Atkinson in the same area was dressed in Santa Claus clothes. The rear of another 'bird-man' sculpture is shown as an extra. I like the almost skeletal appearance. 

Artist Delicia Sampero has an exhibition called "Conference of the Birds" in Lopdell House at the Upstairs Gallery, and also outside in the Lopdell House precinct. S says that these sculptures remind her of paintings by William Hammond, "a New Zealand artist who was part of the Post-Colonial Gothic movement at the end of the 1990s".
