Highly entrepreneurial Shetland pony

It's a good story is this one. Coming back from a walk in Eshaness (and the fact that we ended up walking round Eshaness was a story in itself, given how grey it was this morning...), Alf had to screech to a halt because a Shetland pony had planted itself stolidly in the road. I grabbed his camera (the only one available) and snapped a picture of said roadblock. Pretty quickly the pony clocked that a car had stopped and turned towards us. I lowered the car window and it was over like a shot, putting its head through the door looking, one can assume, for little rewards. Unfortunately we didn't have any, but we did manage another shot.

I think it's quite a good business model. Stop the traffic and then come asking for favours, knowing that you look so cute and attractive that few people would be able to say no.

Earlier we went to Lerwick when things were still very grey, but as we came out of the Peerie Cafe, the sun started to come out. We headed back via the Burn of Lunklet, a lovely little waterfall just above Aith. After a quick snack for lunch, we headed out again, to do the Eshaness Lighthouse/Grind o the Navir walk. Unlike last year, when it was raining by the time we got back to the car, the weather held and we also managed a couple of pints again in the sunshine outside the local pub. The beer may not be amazing, but the suntrap certainly is.

Given the unevenness of the weather, I wonder what tomorrow will hold. No point planning in advance...
