Winter Solstice
In the words of Robert Macfarlane:
Happy Winter Solstice to all in the northern hemisphere. The turn of the year's tide, a pivot-point, a day of hope—when the dark stops rising & after which the Sun begins its slow climb back. A day I mark in my mind much more than Christmas or New Year. Fiat lux!
It has been overcast and drizzling all day. Suddenly, just before 4:00 pm, light started to appear in the west. Mish and I went down the field to investigate. I didn't intend to focus on the brambles in the hedge but liked them against the sunset.
PS Fiat lux isn't a posh version of the Italian motor, it means, Let there be light! :)
