Life's Little Moments

Frosty

It snowed late into the night and when we woke up, there were several inches of fluffy snow on the ground.  It's the kind of snow that is both pretty and easy to clear - the powdery kind.  After breakfast, I shoveled the deck and patio so that I have clear paths to feeders and watering station.  It was extremely cold this morning so after shoveling, I came in for tea in front of the fireplace.  Then, grabbed a camera and headed back out for a while.  By then, the squirrels were up and about and this one was sussing out how much danger I might pose versus the need for food and water.  I loved the little pile of snow on its nose so it was an easy blip choice today.

I scattered some seeds on the kitchen windowsill (outside) and Charlie had some fun safely hunting through the glass.  Now he and Jax are both in front of the fire, although Charlie is trying to be menacing in an effort to get Jax to move.  My money is on the cat.

I made an unfortunate discovery that Carbonite wasn't backing up my Mac so I have now switched to BackBlaze.  I have used Carbonite for years, but since I switched from PC to Mac, it just hasn't done a great job.  The last time it stopped backing up, it took numerous calls to the help desk and several months to get it sorted out.  Not going to do that again.  Hopefully it will only take BB a couple of days to back everything up - I have the Mac and one external hard drive scheduled to backup so it's quite a lot of files, mostly photos.  I have a 1TB drive on the Mac and usually at the end of each year, I move the LR catalogs and photo files all over to the hard drive, so I need to make sure everything is pristine when its time to move files.

Hubs is outside snowplowing our driveway - hopefully it will be fairly quick since the snow isn't deep or wet.  We are getting some pretty big wind gusts right now, which isn't fun.

Dark with peppermint today.
