Chagford. The edge of Dartmoor.

After a slight detour for petrol L, Dippy and I spent a few short hours exploring this beautiful little village which nestles neatly into the hillside on the edge of Dartmoor.
Moisture from the clouds in heaven is Chagford’s saviour, today was just that.
After a much needed warm beverage we made the short walk to the church across the street (flower blip), Dippy blotted his copy book by watering the end of a pew which was obviously a popular spot for canine visitors to sign in;) A well supported Flea Market was being held in the hall next to the car park, a quick walk around the stalls with an excited puppy gave us a taste for the lovely items that were on display.
A return visit later on would be necessary.
A short drive away through narrow Devon bank lined lanes lies the beautiful Fernworthy reservoir. Misty moors opened up to a view of a relatively small but awe inspiring lake in such simple and natural surroundings. The brisk northerly breeze put a pleasant choppy cover over the water and encouraged us to zip up our coats.
Dippy enjoyed some freedom from his lead and bounced around along the path and into the Bracken.
Returning to Chagford we enjoyed some tasty spicy pulse and chestnut soup with crusty bread.
A more relaxing mooch around the market with Dippy ensconced in the car enabled some interesting conversation and a couple of spontaneous purchases including the box of 75 flies (for fishing).
A quick zip around the village looking in mainly in the windows before a damp drive back home.
I picked up some essential shopping before producing a liver, bacon and onion gravy supper of which Dippy was fortunate to enjoy a few mouthfuls.
Darkness arrives so quickly when the day is so short but tomorrow sees the turning point and shorter nights are on the calendar.
Zzzzzzz
