Ring-necked Duck
My husband and I were delighted to see this duck today on the water at Mugdock, neither of us have ever seen one in the flesh before. The Collins Bird Guide says it is an “American species, at times genuine vagrant in Europe, but many are likely escapes from wildfowl collections”. Had it not been pouring down, we would have missed it as we changed from our normal walk to head to the coffee shop by the quickest route and there it was, well not in the coffee shop, you know what I mean!
