Puzzle

I’m puzzled what is happening here. I think the branches in the water are probably willow, presumably with the idea of them forming roots before being planted in spring. But I’ve no idea what going on the near bank.
Another wild and windy day. Amazingly the fence is still standing.
Collected the Christmas food order. Watched the football. Wild and crazy game.
