Windswept
Bertie and I were blown along by the wind on our morning walk but we were fortunate not be rained and hailed on, like it did half an hour after we arrived home. From time to time, Bertie was a bit spooked by the sound of the wind and the movement of things that don’t usually move, in his experience. But he was still happy to pose on his favourite tree stump, knowing that he would be rewarded with a treat.
Our new minister took the service in our local church for the first time this afternoon and it was a most enjoyable service. She has five other churches to look after, from Tobermory in the north east of the island to Iona off the south west, so she won’t be coming our way again for a while.
After church, C and I quickly made our way up the road to the Bellachroy Inn where Nick and seven other friends were waiting for us to join them for a late lunch to celebrate C’s birthday. Conversation around the table was wide-ranging, being both interesting and entertaining. Most of us had roast pork which came from pigs raised within a mile of the Bellachroy and it was delicious.
