Ethan at Mezzrow

My friend Ethan Iverson, a jazz and classical pianist/composer, arranging his scores before an intimate concert this afternoon at the West Village jazz club called Mezzrow. The sonatas he played (for piano and trumpet, four-handed piano, and piano and violin—the latter with the amazing Miranda Cuckson) are among his newly recorded classical pieces. As Ethen said in his intro, he has previously improvised jazz pieces at Mezzrow, but this was his first time using sheet music there.
