Top of the Poles

The first of our runner bean plants have reached the top of our tepeed canes. We have a winner!

There are seven plants snaking their way up & most of them are taller than I am. They've reached the lowest hanging branches of the one-tree-canopy that hangs above, so I'll be snipping the tops off before they become a beanstalk. Some of the bright red flowers have already fallen off & are forming tiny beans.

Talking of runners, Jenny conquered her mini mountain this evening after work by running 5 miles, after a minor blip yesterday. Well done Jenny, you knew you could do it! I managed 6 miles yesterday & so we're nearing the halfway point of our training for the Great North Run in determined fashion. Our Runner's World Running Bible has been of great inspiration over the weekend too!

Next stop, bring on the beans!
