By myself today..
..so I should be able to fit in all my jobs!!
I wish..
Up and out, feed the hens, read the thermometers and rain gauges. Water poly-tunnel, and A's greenhouse while he's away. Breakfast, and put the met data into excel. A quick look at blip and Facebook and e-mails. Write an end of month report for the Scourie newsletter. Intterupted by G, who wanted some eggs as a hotel has run out. Gathered 4 dozen together, including most of today's eggs. Back to the weather report, finished and e-mailed off.
Now a bit after 10, and out with the mower to cut the pathways and around the veg beds to keep it looking tidy. Lovely and warm and sunny. Took Tanni to the dog washing machine for a dip to cool her down. A stroll up and down the beach, and a chat with D's dad up on holiday and enjoying our veges. Back up for lunch at 1:45.
Out at three, after a call from G, who is still with Cath on the Black Isle. Down to a patch I rotavated sometime ago, and removed enough weeds to sow 3 x 30 foot rows of spinach, and three of salads. Salads have gone to seed a bit in the recent hot and damp weather, may be struggling to fill some orders.
Down to the bottom to harvest veg for the hotel, and took Tanni to the machine again. This time chatted with J from Scourie Hotel, she was walking Tilly, and she and Tanni had a lovely time.
Carried veg back up the croft, sorted and weighed, now 8:00. Invoice prepared, and veg delivered. Found out that 10 miles away in Kylesku, that it's been raining heavy since 3. The burns on the hills looked like it too..
Back home, and prepared tea. Chard and mushrooms sweated together with some garlic, all fresh out of the croft (not the mushrooms until I find the Chanterelles!). A sprinkling of pine nuts. A little salad, and some fried sole. I could eat this for every meal, gorgeous.. Fed animals, and called my mum, and G again..
Now 11:00, a quick beer, shower, and bed..
Tomorrow I'll.. ..do all the jobs I didn't do today!!
I see this shot most mornings, a small clump of Reed Canary grass, glowing in the sunshine against the bay..
