Table decoration

I made part of this at the wreath making class at the beginning of the month. The idea was to add flowers nearer to Christmas and before that to leave the display out of doors to be kept moist by the rain.

The birds stole all the berries!

I wanted to buy white roses for the wreath but  Aldi just had pink or yellow. So my Christmas table decoration is not really Christmassy. I like it and no one else will see it on Christmas Day, so that's OK.

Kay (who ran the class) and Eric came for lunch. I managed to make cheese scones just in time. They were rather rustic. The recipe I normally use had disappeared from the internet.....
This sounded good but I couldn't find the correct sized cutter. I should have cut them into triangles, because they turned out rather large and difficult to get them cooked through.

They tasted fine with the carrot and ginger soup. (Carrots courtesy of the Aldi 8p bags.)

Kay brought mince pies.

We had a lovely chat. They went off to shop in Hexham and I went to see Margret. She is thoroughly fed up with being in hospital. Someone came to assess her for her chosen Nursing Home today, but they have no spare rooms at the moment. She thinks she can stay in hospital until a room becomes available but that's not great for her.

There is no news of Maureen in the RVI. Jenny is making progress in the Freeman. I think that means she will come home soon.

I made chicken stock and then chicken and vegetable soup tonight. There is too much washing up when you make multiple batches of soup. I will stop now!
