Bizarre

With PV not now producing enough surplus electricity to give car large charge, and with s trip to UK coming up, took Luna out for evening walk in Erkheim where I can charge at the supermarket very cheaply.

When we got back, this car with Chinese number plates was seemingly about to start charging,  the driver standing next to it peering at his mobile phone presumably getting the App started that you need to charge.

Fascinated by the car, the name of which I'd never heard, I approached the driver and asked if I could photograph it. "Of course, do you want to sit in it?' We got chatting (EV drivers at charging points are an amazingly friendly & helpful community) and it turned out he had the task of doing roadworthyness tests & was on his way from Munich to Stuttgart- I think to Bosch HQ. He wasn't a big EV fan, a diesel driver personally. He had been given the keys but no instructions on charging. Turned out, the car only had Chinese sockets on the car & no adapters for European high speed DC charging. We thought there would be possibility with all one of the mass of cables in the boot to hook it up to a slow 22kWh AC charger but there are none in Erkheim without a cable. So I offered to guide him to one near home.

When we got there, discovered that didn't help either, so he reckoned he had enough charge left to get to an hotel in Ulm and there to hook it up to a normal household socket which overnight should get enough charge to crawl to Stuttgart.

Very pleasant but strange encounter.
