Christmas Eve 2024

I could have saved myself the time I spent yesterday trying to sort out a route to the beach given the diverted #26 bus route on the Lothian bus timetable web page. Having decided to walk to Shandwick Place the last advertised bus stop before Abbeyhill when there appeared to be no route along Princes Street, I asked the driver what was going on when he drove  along Princes Street and he said it must be the  New Year bus timetable that was on the web page even though it was distinctly printed for today. The inmates in charge of the asylum, as Kaybee so succinctly put it.

I was early at the beach and was rewarded by a stunning first light creeping over Joppa and the coast. There were just two of us swimming so early although there was another group of 3 coming out as we went in. It was a gentle, calm undulating sea and I enjoyed the swim knowing it would be my last one before New Year’s Day.
My Christmas present to myself was to get an Uber home cutting out all the faffing about with bus timetables.

A last visit to Söderberg for a hot coffee before cooking a large packet of ‘devils on horseback’ to eat during the rest of the week although I’m not sure if they will last that long.
