Today I made an effort to work through some old video camera tapes that I digitised a few years ago, and have had sitting, waiting, on a hard drive. The result of my effort is a short video that shows a small part of the work to preserve some of the industrial railway heritage of central Fife. The original footage was shot on a VHS-C camcorder by my late father, who was a lifelong rail enthusiast. He passed when the internet was still in its infancy but he would have been impressed by, and very interested in, the ease with which it's possible to share information among people who share a common interest. Back in the day, such information sharing was largely confined to word-of-mouth, limited print runs, and enthusiast group photo shows, but here, straight from the 1990s, is an easily shared view of a small part of Fife from years gone by.
