My Christmas eve

Looking at masses of catkins on my walk into Fareshare this morning. Hardly anyone going to work today, roads and pavements very quiet.
At Fareshare there is some frustration that food will be wasted during the 2 day closure. This morning we were picking for the 27th (Friday) and earlier dated food must be discarded. We were donated some M and S turkeys selling at £95 in the shop.  But too late to go out:( They must be cooked by 26th. I put a message on my neighbourhood WhatsApp. A neighbour around the corner, who I know slightly, was very happy to have one, so I brought it home for her.  I know her life is hard - she was so pleased, and is going to share it with her neighbour, who is unwell.
As I was dropping it off I heard a shout - the postman in his van calling my name.  He had a parcel for me, in a broken box, with no postage on it. Was taking it back to the sorting office.  So I was lucky - it’s my present from my son… box was fine when he sent it, and it did have a postage label on, so I don’t know what happened to it. It looks like a book, I wonder what….. he usually chooses well.
Lastly, a lovely little origami Christmas wreath, a gift from blipper Squatbetty. She makes such beautiful handmade things of many kinds. I’m really pleased with it.  Spent the evening wrapping and delivering gifts for neighbours’ children, writing messages, and catching up on blip.
