A busy day. Mt and I went down early for him to experience the Lannan bakery queue and enjoy picking out pastries for everyone. He loves baking and eating pastries so has been excited to go to this particular place for ages and wasn’t disappointed. Not only did he have to queue for ages but he bought a great selection. I had a Mont Blanc inspired one which was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten….chestnuts, brandy soaked plums, custard and chestnut purée all inside a crisp flaky shell….yum!
We came home and all tasted and gobbled down the treats, then after various showers and hair drying and calls to friends we decided to go for a walk into town to let them see the market and fair and general Christmas hubbub. Mx seemed ok to go out and get some fresh air and did really well walking that far, and he and AR enjoyed going into the Lego shop. H was having a bit of a look for a warm waterproof cot for dog walking and we went into Nordic Outdoors and she was super lucky…not only found a beautiful one but they let her have it at the sale price which doesn’t start for another couple of days…bargain!
Home as both the kids started to flag and we decided to just have various nibbles for lunch so I put various bits in the oven and we set the table (listening to SC from Kings of course!). LE arrived and we heard about her trip to Oman recently and generally caught up and chatted as we grazed. After she left Mx was fading and went to lie down and watch a Christmas film whilst AR iced and made a gingerbread house with Mt&H.
We weren’t very hungry for supper, so abandoned the plans for the veg pie and chocolate log and instead had a cheeseboard and crackers which was lovely. Unfortunately whilst we were eating Higgs the dog found a half eaten chocolate bear and finished it off….I hope there aren’t any nasty repercussions!
We all watched the Nativity film together and had a good laugh, then it was time for getting their stockings ready (they had to borrow the ones I’d earmarked for Mt&H so I’m not sure what I’ll put their stuff in!), with the food and drink for Santa and his reindeers. They went off to bed and we settled down with snowballs and the roaring fire video on the TV and chatted about Christmas’ past.
Have a good Christmas if you’re celebrating tomorrow!
