Our Christmas Day

It’s 11am and I’m taking time out from the kitchen for a cup of coffee and my blip. At 12pm my youngest daughter will arrive to make our traditional starter of Celery and Stilton Soup. There is a small turkey crown in one slow cooker and a joint of ham in another for the two meat eaters, for the other three of us I’m making a mushroom and chestnut lattice from a recipe given to me by my cousin’s wife, I have high expectations, it sounds delicious!
It will be the five of us for most of the day as normal, me, my husband, two daughters and son and hopefully a family friend and her four year old will pop round later.
Under the tree are some odd wrappings, each year we try to outdo each other for the most repurposed items. I have used an old beach wrap of my daughter’s to wrap her present and the gift tags are several years old. There are a couple of restaurant takeaway bags under the tree too. I’m sure a lot of people would find this rather odd but it makes us laugh and that is the main thing, to have a fun family day :-)
