Grey Christmas
This autumn and winter’s default weather is back: Thick fog and drizzle. I wouldn’t mind the wet cold (3°C) so much, but the darkness of these days is hard to bear. I didn’t filter this blip at all, and it was taken at noon. A day so gloomy, we had to keep the lights on all the time.
After breakfast, I wrapped the little presents for my mother and her carers, and drove into the Taunus hills to spend the day with them. E and Frau G had planned and cooked together - a lovely Christmas roast, with traditional dumplings, red cabbage, chestnuts and cranberries. It had been my job to provide the sweets - an equally traditional Bunter Teller with a mix of everyone’s favourite Christmas goodies, to be served with coffee.
All the food made my mother tired despite the coffee, and she needed a nap. So I am back home now, chilling on the sofa with Rani.
