Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas!
My husband and I were enjoying a few fresh sliced radishes with our supper, when I suddenly looked down at the radish slice in my hand and realized it needed to be featured in a Christmas photo shoot.
In my mind's eye, it was simple: just the four Crittergators and the radish slice, with a green Christmas tree drawn on it, by hand. So I got out my green Sharpie, and I gave it the old college try.
But I am here to share a recent learning with you: you cannot WRITE on a radish slice, no matter how hard you try! (You CAN, however, make a radish slice stand on end to serve as a sort of Christmas tree mandorla, if you attach a tiny binder clip on the bottom. You're welcome!)
Hmm. Well, that set me back a bit. But then I put my thinking cap on, and I saw a small Christmas tree in my head. It was either a sticker or a pin. So I looked through my stickers. No dice. But then I got into my holiday jewelry and there was just the thing! A tiny Christmas tree pin, with red and green sparkles. I stuck it through the radish. Voila! Oh so festive!
The Crittergators wanted to invite some friends to the party, so this photo shoot also features a set of glass animals sent to me years ago by my friend Uma in India (the same person who sent my parents that lovely little elephant for their Christmas tree one year - story here and here).
So here is our peaceable kingdom, Crittergator style!
We hope that - wherever you are, whatever you are doing - you are healthy and happy and have plenty to eat and drink and wear and a good roof over your head, and that you are surrounded by those you love.
Tell somebody you love them.
Give them a big Christmas hug.
Oh, and take a minute to have somebody take a photo or a video with everyone you love in it. Someday, you will thank me.
Merry Christmas, one and all!
Our soundtrack song is Lauren Daigle, with Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
Bonus: link to nutritional benefits of radishes. Did you know that radishes contain antioxidants and have antifungal properties?
