Christmas BBQ

S and I welcomed our Auckland-based children and grandchildren for a BBQ. The weather was kind to us; warm and windless with enough cloud cover to keep the temperatures on the deck at a comfortable level.

Later in the day I went for a walk. Heardmore birds than I saw. The extra is one of those I saw. A blackbird with a worm in it's beak. Taking it back to the nest, perhaps. Having seen me (and the camera) it showed a little subterfuge. It went down onto some dusty grass, appeared to drop and then recover the worm, flew up to rest on a fence and dropped the worm, before dropping down itself and not being seen again.

Later still in the afternoon we had a long facetime with Tsuken and his family. All in all a very family day and a happy time.
