Oak
A very large oak stump noticed on our walk today. Highly textured - some people say they can see a face in it.
A miserable day weather-wise - damp and misty - so we did a localish walk starting from the small mid-Suffolk town of Eye. Can't not walk on Christmas Day, whatever the weather!! The oak is actually a sculpture by local artists Ben Platts-Mills and Ray Brooks and it's situated on one of the footpaths which loop out of the town. I think it was commissioned by an organisation called "Hearts of Oak", as part of a series in 2003. We have visited it before - it was quite difficult to find then, but the undergrowth has been cleared and a fence erected around it now (though maybe it was always there, just not visible!).
Not an especially Christmassy Blip, but one of the better images from a walk in manky weather - I'm sure Blippers will understand. Christmas Greetings to all!
