Blip Advent Calendar - Day 25!
The final day of blip advent calendar is a window on my Christmas Day. I'm not a big fan of the expectations often placed upon the day by society. However, I enjoy spending the day indulging in the greatest gift that can ever be under the Christmas tree...time.
I was up and out at 6:50am to meet Matthew for a festive spin. We had great fun despite the thick fog, heavy drizzle and strong winds at times. Matthew planned a Christmas special with lots of new climbs for me to get my teeth stuck into...another great gift!
This afternoon I've enjoyed opening some lovely gifts by the fire before an evening road trip around the festive lights. Mum was the driver and I had a trail sheet scoring each time we saw a penguin, polar bear, reindeer, snowman or Father Christmas. The reindeer won with 26 sightings.
It may not be the traditional Christmas Day to many. It may not have involved a large family gathering. It may not have featured a large Christmas dinner and all the trimmings. However, all of the above wouldn't do it for me. What matters most is doing what makes you smile, regardless of what other people may think.
My final quote comes from one of my favourites...Charlie Mackesy. It's one I hope you can take with you into 2025.
"Always remember you matter, you're important, and you are loved and you bring to this world things no one else can."
