It's Christmaaaaaasssss

The Youngest in particular gets so incredibly excited on Christmas Eve that the absence of sleep seems like a forgone conclusion.

I was surprised to find that they had made it all the way through to 6.30 without waking me and they soon came bounding into my bedroom to dive into their stockings as I gently sipped my “Dad needs a moment to come to” brew.

Not long after we were into the tree presents and I was delighted to see/hear the shouts and whoops as their big presents were revealed. The Youngest has taken to her new skateboard like a duck to water and I doubt I will ever see m’boy’s face again as he explores the capabilities of his new phone (my old one).

Post bacon-butty breakfast, we dropped in on friends to exchange gifts (I was delighted to be presented with a Die Hard mug to accompany the Die Hard coaster The Youngest had made for me) and then headed up to the parents for the day, where The Eldest would later join us.

It was a lovely chilled out day, with lots of fun, games (the ones that worked), laughter and good food - the only downside was that my father was clearly not feeling himself and faded as the day wore on*.

Christmas TV telly was reserved only for Wallace and Gromit (excellent) and - once we were back at home - Gavin and Stacey being given the most perfect send-off.

Oh, and the picture in the extra? This is the newly monikered “Rusty” who I bought for my mother as a thank-you for hosting. I wasn’t sure if she would like him and if the truth be told, was sort of hoping that she wouldn’t as I could have kept him.

Lovely day and a very Merry Christmas was had by all!

I hope that yours was too. x

*Thank you to all those who have sent best wishes and made enquiries of him. It is very much appreciated!
