It's a long way from Mount Athos....

....to a lane by the Meadows in Edinburgh.

At the end of this lane is the Orthodox Church of St Andrew. Very different, but the monasteries on Mt Athos, and the Orthodox Church of St Andrew, are both under the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople - to which the world's 300 million Orthodox Christians look (in varying degrees of connection) for leadership.

I love my diverse city......
