On This Day In History
1932: Radio City Hall opens

Quote Of The Day
"When the curtain rises, as a performer you are instantly reminded that you are a part of something much bigger than yourself. With every performance, I glance out as the orchestra starts and see 6,000 seats that have bought joy and escape to so many since 1932."
(Lauren Renck Manning, dancer and choreographer)

I went to see the Our Lives Since 1995 exhibition at the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Modern Art this afternoon. I was quite underwhelmed. It was supposed to be an exhibition of hope following the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. A pretty grim sort of hope it is judging from the pretentious works on display here. The best piece is Kenji Yanobe's Sun Sister statue outside the museum, and that is free to view.

Ah well, I'm looking forward to introducing the family to the wonders of Flash Gordon this evening.

Anything Goes (from the Tony Awards, 1988, at the Radio City Hall) Those lyrics just get truer and truer each year.
