Boxing day dinner

Had a lazy start to the day with more Bucks fizz and croissants.  Walked up to the local shops under strict instructions from T, who worked in retail for several years, not to buy anything.  We didn't have any intention of doing so and just wanted a bit of fresh air and to recycle a couple of bottles.  None of the big supermarkets were open but I did wonder why the superdrug (without a pharmacy) needed to be open.
Watched a bit of TV and then had a go with the Find my Past subscription that I got for Christmas.  I wanted to look at the 1921 census. I did find a newspaper report that my grandmother had taken a man to court for smacking my 11 year old Dad. The case was dismissed as my dad had hit his children and the view of the court seemed to be that my dad probably deserved a clip round the ear, though the man put him over his knee and whacked him.  I'm impressed that my feisty grandmother,  probably a single parent at that point, was so incensed that she got the police involved. I've asked a cousin if she had heard of this incident. Will be interesting to see what she turns up.
Finished making our Christmas meal.  It looked impressive and tasted very good. As we are vegetarian it is nice to try something other than another nut loaf.  This is Mushroom, Butternut & Spinach Koulibiac, a Russian dish.
