A view from Jeanneb

An adventure!

After a chilled morning where Eda started building her Lego Fox which Alex sent her for Christmas, she is very much into animals and nature and has recently built the Tiger he got her for her birthday. She follows the instructions well despite both being designated age 9+, meanwhile Jude was away with the Playmobile fairies and mermaids!

After lunch we set out on an adventure. A walk to Chilcombe Bottom, a valley just behind Little Solsbury Hill. John had run there this morning but we were definitely walking. Luckily we had both brought our Muck boots!

Skirting the hill and then the very busy A46 on Swainswick Lane we doubled back through a field and dropped diwn into the lovely valley where there was not even a hint of the traffic noise. See extra collage for the early part of the walk.
A peasant amble until we had to start back up to Solsbury Hill for our return. Quite steep and so the girls were soon demanding piggy backs. ( No such luck for Chris and I!)
In the blip I caught the girls doing a high five! As you can see it was pretty foggy and as we approached the head of the hill it was starting to get dark. We didn’t want to go to the top but Eda did and in the second extra taken by John you can see her running along the horizon to the trig point. Some young oriole up there were heard to say ‘ …a great view!’

Three and a half miles and we came back in the twighlight even negotiation the steep and very muddy hill that Chris and I both slipped down on two years ago on Boxing Day!

A great adventure and Chilcombe Bottom is certainly a place to revisit, perhaps on a sunny day!
