National Christmas Tree

Tonight, we visited the National Christmas Tree on the Elipse in front of the south lawn of the White House.  Surrounding the tree are 50 smaller trees that represent our 50 states. Each tree is decorated with ornaments that are crafted by elementary school children from a chosen school from that state.
While I was taking my photo, a Japanese tour guide was explaining the tree to her group. She pointed out the White House to them, but they couldn’t figure out which building in the landscape was the White House. They seemed to think that the actual White House was not big enough.
