Taiko at Womad

I could hear Gocoo's thunderous taiko on the open-air stage before I'd left the Siam tent, a few hundred yards away. I went straight across and wheedled my way to close to the front. They were utterly exhilarating and I wished so much that Mum could have been there to see them; she'd've loved it. The 12 Japanese performers looked like they were having huge fun and it was very infectious. Stewards were handing out earplugs. Besides loads of drums, their instruments included flute, a big gong, crashing cymbals and didges. I filmed them. It was absolutely incredible. More photos (scroll down).
