Mortified

We decided to head down the coast to North Berwick for a wander. Starting off with breakfast at the Sealife Centre cafe, before the walking along the beach and the High Street. My blip is of Bass Rock, home to lots of puffins and other seabirds.

On our way home we popped into the Aldi in North Berwick, and there was this couple standing by the freezers and the man very cheerfully said hello, which we responded too with a cursory acknowledgment as we walk passed, thinking that he was a nice man.

Anyway, it was only when we were out of the shop and in the car we thought that maybe we recognised this man and started to think more. We then remembered we knew this lovely man as our friends Sarah and Stewart’s son in law, Paul.

We felt mortified as he had been so chirpy, and we had rudely in part ignored him. Made worse by the fact, that this is the second time he had recognised us, the first being when he sat down to us in a plane going from Stansted to Edinburgh last April.

We were so embarrassed that we have asked Sarah to explain to Paul that we’re were not ignoring him and Katie, but that we are just terrible with faces. Martin reckons he has ‘face blindness’.

Anyway, we had a lovely time and I’m now back home in Musselburgh, outside Tesco, while Martin has his eye test.

I hope you are having a nice day.
