Dismal

A thoroughly dismal morning of grey gloom - this was a drier, brighter moment. The track was formerly the turnpike between Ellon and Fraserburgh. It would have been the major thoroughfare used by the mail coach, carts and travellers on foot and horseback. Mourners attending funerals at the nearby kirkyard would have been exempt from the tolls payable by other travellers.
