Tall trees, big sky
A new art journal page I did yesterday was posted tonight, just go back one day if you are interested!
I enjoyed my walk at Conservatory Park today on the way home after pilates class. Both were very enjoyable. I do the walking for fresh air, strong bones and noticing things... like the angle of the trees against the clouds. Of course the opportunity to take photos is also a benefit!
I take Pilates for my lower back and it certainly strengthens all my muscles. The class is different from other classes I've taken. It is done on a Megaformer instead of a Reformer machine. There are 2 stationary platforms with a moving spring loaded carriage that provides various weight resistance. The exercises (squats, lunges, core abdominal and more) are done extremely slowly and they are very challenging.
It is a combination of pilates, yoga and strength training. I find because of the intensity of muscle work, it raises my heart rate as much as brisk walking. I've been going to Mantra Fitness 2 or 3 times a week since early September and feel much stronger. Yay!
This is probably more than you need to know, but good for me to describe my day and what I've been doing to gain strength when I'm 67. Most of the participants are alot younger than me, but I do modify and work at my own pace. Thanks for stopping by. It is always appreciated!
