Thwarted at the Last Moment

The coven of Merry Widows met again this morning to exchange Christmas week news and share advice on how to gird our loins for more of the same this coming  week.

When we disbanded I noticed unusual activity in the Meadows at the foot of the garden with vans and men in high viz jackets. When curiosity got the better of me, I went to find out what was happening. It seems the annual torchlight procession is starting in the Meadows tonight before making its way along Forrest Road and George IV Bridge to Castle Terrace. Two large screens had been erected on either side of Middle Meadow Walk but when I asked what they were going to display,  one of installation workers said he had no idea,  he was only there to get them to work.

As I waited to try and get a blip of the procession starting at 7:30 pm, I learned it had been cancelled due to the strong winds. You win some you lose some. I give you my new green trainers instead!
