The Sound of Summer

The cicadas have finished, after what seemed like a much noisier and longer season than most, and they have been followed by helicopters.
I heard an entomologist interviewed recently, and he said the Blue Mountains is the cicada capital of the world and that this season was outstanding.
I am not surprised:)

The three most common reasons for helicopters over the valley are bushfires, lost bushwalkers or flights transporting equipment for restoration of tracks.
I have no idea what accounts for today's activity, but it was constant.
