The Moor and the Mine

A drizzly morning kept us inside but it cleared here at lunchtime so we headed up to St Agnes Head. The murk hadn't lifted there and although we went up to the Beacon we could only take the plaque on the trig point's word that we should be able to see various landmarks in particular directions. We didn't give up completely though as we went back via the Wheel Coates mine workings. Amazing buildings in a stunning location with the haar lifting right on the edge of the coastline. The whole area is carpeted in heather and gorse and what with that and the mist, we felt like the scenery was getting us ready for Wuthering Heights at the Minack on Friday.

A walk after tea tonight round the coastal path in the opposite direction to St Ives. We caught sight of Porth Kidney Sands, completely deserted apart from one man and his dog, but we couldn't get down to it without going through a section of the path that was really muddy. We will need to check the route out again before we go home, I think.
