Reykjavik

This was our last day in Iceland, and we wanted to be not too far from Keflavik Airport to make sure of getting our 8.25pm flight back to Edinburgh. We decided therefore to spend the day in Reykjavik. The original intention was to have spent the previous Sunday there, but as we were almost a day late in getting to Iceland -thanks to (un)easyJet - that plan had to be abandoned.

Anyway we certainly made the most of the day. The main blip was taken in the Concert Hall/Conference Centre, which as you can see has quite stunning modern architecture. The first extra made use of reflections in the windows of the Centre.

Earlier in the day we'd visited the Hallgrímskirkja (2nd extra), Rekjavik's  beautiful Evangelical-Lutheran church built between 1945 and 1986: the cloud formations behind it made for quite a dramatic photo in monochrome.

Rekjavik has some fun, brightly coloured buildings so I've chosen one for my 3rd extra; I guess bright buildings help them to brighten up those long dark winter nights at that latitude.

The 4th extra just had to be blipped - what a grumpy Santa! I think maybe he's hung over after trying out all 12 Christmas beers!

And finally - using up the last of this year's extras, lots of which I'd kept for documenting this trip - the Sun Voyager sculpture by the waterside. I thought this made a fitting end to my blip record of this amazing trip which we so lucky to take part in.

(Needless to say I have more photos - no doubt when time allows a Google Album may be created.)
