Boxing Day

We had a leisurely start to Boxing Day with eggs for breakfast. There was some discussion about different locations that would make a nice walk. In the end, however, we returned to Portobello seafront and joined quite a few other people who decided on the same thing.

We were lucky that The Espy, a family-friendly bar situated right on the promenade, had a table for the seven of us who were out. We settled for a drink. It was £11 for a large glass of red – I think we could have got a bottle for that price.

After finishing, we continued our walk. A wanted to try out her hoverboard Christmas present. When we initially arrived on the promenade, she was a little too scared to try it, but when we found a bit of space, she gave it a go and, within a few minutes, was able to move forwards and backwards as needed, albeit with a stabilising hand from her dad.

As we returned, unsuccessfully looking for another bar for a drink, Mum got on the hoverboard, and we managed to get her moving up the street. It was quite fun to watch.

Without somewhere to sit, we returned home, and M planned on making cocktails. We were a few ingredients short for the buffet dinner (and the cocktail), so PY and I accompanied my brother to Morrisons to pick up a few things. We found they were out of Kahlúa, needed for the cocktails, so we made a detour on the way back to Sainsbury’s, where the last bottle was secured.

When we got back, cocktails were made. Then their neighbour popped round for a drink.. It was an hour or so, but I snacked throughout, so I wasn't hungry when the fantastic buffet spread was on the table. Of course, I overate and felt bloated for the remainder of the day.
