Oliebollen

Having a couple of drinks in a local bar before heading home. The Dutch go all-out with the fireworks and bangers at this time - they have already been non-stop since around 11am, so we will be heading home soon, as I have a fear of fireworks/loud noises, so being outdoors at this time, for me, it's not fun.
Anyway, the bar owners have made the Dutch new-year snack of Oliebollen - balls of thick dough, deep-fried and coated with powdered sugar - much like a doughnut back home in Scotland, and Apple Beignets. I've already had two...
