In search of times past
We hadn't been intending to go out for Hogmany, mainly due to the weather forecast - but since the official 'Edinburgh's Hogmany' had been cancelled it dawned on me that it would be an opportunity to go up to the Tron Kirk, where everyone used to gather ahead of the bells. We only left the house at 11.20 pm, but just made it in time, courtesy of a tram. Sounded like a few fireworks going off, from the castle maybe, but ahead of midnight so a case of premature ignition.
Changed days - the two clock faces on the Tron visible from where I was standing were giving totally different (and wrong) times. I heard no bells. This photo was taken at 9 minutes into the new year - when we last attended a Tron Hogmany ( ~ 20 years ago, I guess), it was wall to wall people, mostly drunk, and waiting to give everyone a beer shampoo at midnight. And of course lots of full body hugging and kissing with complete strangers.
Came home on a tram and had a dram together.
Edit: I meant to add "Happy New Year to blippers one and all!"
