An Emergency Book Blip -- a mixture of presents and books bought by me. I'm stumped for anything else today. Meanwhile, I'm still trying to make up my mind about The Bee Sting, which I finished two days ago.

Yesterday was ... well, not a typical NYE. I completely failed to capture any of the few blipportunities. After a short visit to S's mum, who was asleep and barely opened her eyes, we caught the very convenient direct train from Yarm to Manchester airport, and a taxi from there to our exciting destination for the evening -- the Premier Inn.  The weather was horrible, as is normal in Manchester. The hotel was ... quiet, not many people and no-one interested in any kind of celebration, since they no doubt all had early flights in the morning. We had a drink in the bar, then a bog-standard Premier Inn meal, and were back in our room before nine. In bed by ten! No fizz consumed. Perhaps appropriate given what a sh*t year 2024 was. Let's hope 2025 is better -- we did cheer ourselves up by discussing some plans.

It rained heavily all night, and the hotel car park was flooded in the morning. Still, no problem getting to the airport. I've never seen it so quiet, with no queue at all at security, so once through we had a boring two-hour wait. An uneventful flight, then home. At least the weather is better here, but we're tired and feeling a bit down, so it will be another early night.

And with that, Happy New Year blipmates!
